Annoucement....

Dear friends,

Please reactivate your SMP by just typing your password again. There will be a blue word link "Pengaktifan semula Pengguna". Just click and reactivate.

Our result for semester 1, session 2009/10 can be checked in your SMP.
However, our LI result, if you check back, it show SM.
You may calculate your CGPA again to confirm whether it included the LI pointer or not.

Besides, students are required to do course registration for semester 2, session 2009/2010.
3rd and 4th year students need to register between 24 December 2009 till 25 December 2009.

Please spread the news and please do the course register a.s.a.p.

Food Act and Regulation.


Please check your email, as already sent an email attached the list of people ordered the book of Food Act and Regulations (all amendments up to October 2009) and paid the deposit of RM 10 in the Excel sheet attachment.

Please check the list and see whether


  1. The language version of the book wanted is correct (English or Malay)
  2. Paid but the name is not in the list (suppose do not have)
  3. Anyone that not in the list but want to order

Please email to foodstep@yahoo.com before 11 December 2009 (Friday), 6.00pm if have any mistake or any questions.
After that, i will order based on the quantity that i received.

The price of the in the book store is RM 32 (original price).
I will collect the money of RM 14 (for those that paid the deposit of RM 10) mostly during the first week of the University reopen. (mean the book is selling at RM 24) and mostly we will get the book in the first week.

  1. Please remember to Pre-register the courses for next semester in smp.ums.edu.my. Please use Internet Explorer to open SMP. If cannot register, please try again next morning. Deadline is on 30 November 2009 (Monday)
  2. For the courses we need to take, please refer to our prospectus. As next semester will be our last semester, please make sure we all take all the subjects needed and confirm enough credit hour for your degree. If not, Convo will be without you.
  3. Please also register as Non resident for next semester for those non-resident. Deadline is on 2 December 2009 ( Wednesday)

Food Act 1983 (Act 281) & Regulations Booking

Food Science friends,

Food Act 1983 book will be used in next semester in the Food Law subject and it will be the main reference for the Open Book exam of the course. (Dr Lee, 2009)

However, the book has two version: MBC (cheaper, ~RM 28) and ILBS (more expensive, ~RM 38). In our Food Tech course discussion, we confirmed that I will decide after I compare both publisher book quality but mostly will buy the cheaper one.

Tomorrow( 16 Nov 2010), please stay back after your Toxicology Exam for the paying deposit session. One time session only,so hope you can wait even you finish your paper earlier. Whee Sim will conduct the session.

During the session, please fill in details and pay like below:

  1. Name
  2. English or Melay version
  3. Deposit of RM 10 per book
I will ordered the book once I get the number needed. The book supplier need to order earlier so that we can take the book during next semester first week.

Food Science: Academic Exhibition 2009


Pameran Akademik Food Science 4th Year

This is the timetable that you guys have filled in. Pls inform other friends of yours if they have not fill in. There are more students than the slots available. But Datin hopes that all of us support this event. And since she's taking the attendance, I'm not really sure if she'll check... And if there are still empty slots, I'll randomly pick the rest to fill it. Dont wanna make Datin angry later dunno what will happen to us.
To those who are participating, you will be give RM5 each. Attendance will be taken. There will be a form with the schedule and you need to sign for your attendance and when you have been given the RM5.

Things that you need to bring:
1. Pen/pencil/stationery to sign and write people's BMI etc.
2. Lab coat to look 'professional'
3. Water to drink. I do not think SSMP is providing it for you.

Regarding the attendance for lecture, there should be no lectures for this week because it's convo week (Issa, 2009). And even if there is lecture, you just need to inform the lecturer that you are involved in the pameran akademik ssmp. So should be no problem.

What to do when you are there:
1. Do anthropometric measurement to whoever interested. Something like what we did for the gaya street. Height, weight, waist/hip measurement, and bio-impedance. There will be forms for you to write the details of the measurement and to be given to the ppl you have measured. You are also required to record the info in a green log book for Datin's usage.

2. If you are shift 1, you need to set up the instrument for height measurement, prepare the table etc. Ensure that all the instruments are in the box.

3. If you are shift 2, make sure that when you keep the instruments at the end of the day, everything must be well kept.

A check list of the instruments:
1. Omron - 2 units with batt in it
2. Weighing machine - 1 unit
3. Height measurement - 1 unit (inc. 2 parts of the stand and 4 parts of the ruler)
4. Extra batteries - 2 pack (1 totally new, 1 staple on)
5. Measuring tape - 1 unit
6. Log book (green colour) - 1 unit

In the schedule attached in the email, the names highlighted are the ketua. So if you found that some instruments went missing, go look for the previous shift ketua. SSMP pameran akademik is at booth No 6. Please be punctual. There will be other lab assistants and lecturers having duties at the booth as well. We dont want them to complain about us or report to datin.

Take good care of the lab...

Pn Dayang(Lab Dietetik Pemakanan) get angry on us, 4th year students as her lab become dirty.
(She already asked the cleaner to clean the mess up)

So make sure to clean up after use the prop and also mop the floor and handle their sample properly. Those sample that spoil and leave it there already being disposed as do not know belong to who.

Dialouge Session with SSMP 3rd Year Juniors about Latihan Industri

As the juniors start to find and send letters to the food company they interested, tomorrow will be a dialouge session with them to help them to solve some of their questions.

LI sharing session with juniors who are going to LI soon???

If we all seniors have a session of simple dialouge with our juniors who are now 3rd year about Latihan Industri, how is it?
As a lot of them still blur, nervous and scared about LI just like us before. Hope with the simple dialouge session and an hour of your time and sharing will help them in some way.

Here have a few important information that I would like to share.

(1) Latihan Industri Presentation Briefing

Date: 23 July 2009

Day: Thursday

Time: 12.00pm until around 12.30pm

(2) Food Tech Fermentation Class Changed

The 21 July 2009 ( Tuesday) class is changed to 24 July 2009 (Friday).

(3) Dr Chye Thesis Briefing

For those that under Dr Chye for thesis, please attend a briefing conducted by Dr Chye.

(4) PTPTN

As a lot of people asking me about when will the PTPTN bank in to their account, I would like to give some explanation with the information I know. As for PTPTN, the money will bank in when our result reach the minimum requirement which is 2.00 or 2.50 (not sure). But our result of LI will get around end of this semester or next semester. However, this issue, I already brought up to Penolong Pendaftar SSMP and Seksyen Perumahan dan Perkhidmatan Pelajar HEP. They will help to sort things out.


As this a new things in our school,SSMP, just be patient. As we already a university student, we should know how to spend money wisely and for the emergency.

Previously our Senior just having the PTPTN contract problem as they changing from 3 years course to 4 years course.


(5) Waiting of bus.

Based on my this few days of taking bus experience during morning, if you are from IP or KF and want to take a bus to Kampung AB/CD/E to take bus SSMP, you can wait at the bus stop in front of Dewan Resital which also the bus stop near CIMB bank. As most of the drivers like to pass by the Canselori road to Kampung.
