A letter that must be read...

Dear 3rd year students of SSMP,

Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen! I believe all of you had started your industrial training. I remembered the anxiety i felt days before training starts. All seemed like it just happened yesterday.

My main motive of writing this mail is to express my concern towards all of you. Your batch is the first ever batch of juniors that i had ever have close encounters with. I still remember the day when we first met in DKP where you all should have your mathematics class. Till today I would smile thinking of the scene when all of you took out your papers and pen upon my presence on stage, until i introduced myself. The loud "CEH!!!" still rings loudly in my mind today.

I did not realize that the semester before shall be our last sem together until Xin Yan and Elvin came to bid me farewell during AIM night. It felt sad...really, as it may be the last time i will ever see most of you (CHOI!). I had longed to write this mail to most of you but just like your seniors, we are all burdened with thesis and exams. Sure hope this mail is not too tardy.

In occasion of your up-coming industrial training, there are some tips that i learned from experience that you can take note of:

(i) Be punctual (ok...everyone knows that...but sometimes things get out of control...Please take note the lecturers will check your punch card)

(ii) Make a habit to smile greet EVERYONE in the factory compund...Anyone could influence your marks...and its courtesy bah...

(iii) Start your final report earlier. Most of us started planning since the second month, and started typing by april.

(iv) Remind your boss to evaluate you twice per year...they are busy people...they tend to forget.

(v) Always ask before acting...especially dealing with machinery

(vi) Do not let go any chances to show your loyalty towards your company (it is abstract, but you will know what to do when the time comes)

(vii) Try not to side anyone if there is office politics...if you REALLY have to, side your boss.

(viii) always show a willingness to work extra. Remember that accomodating a trainee is not something simple...Never work based on what you "earn"

(ix) try to request a computer to use for report writing purposes...most of you are expected to be free most of the time.

(x) try to look busy

(xi) Do not copy any senior's final report...marks are given on creativity. Do not miss the fun on putting in own ideas.

(xii) If you encountered any significant unfair treatment that causes trauma or any sever symptoms of disconfort, contact the school immediately.

(xiii) Try not to end your industrial training earlier, but if you had to to do so, try to cover it smartly. This is worth 12 credit hours, don't let anything ruin it.

(xiv) Try to confirm a working place in your company. Impress your boss!

That's for now. I wish all of you all the best in your industrial training. Don't forget to say hi if we happen to see each other in the future ok?

All the best!

Yours,

Lennon
